SDFBI celebrates 10 years!

Starting in 2014, the South Downs Farmland Bird Initiative (SDFBI) has been annually surveying farmland bird numbers across more than 120 1km grid squares in the South Downs National Park (SDNP).  The grid squares, surveyed by a team of volunteers, cover a wide range of farm habitats including arable, grassland, woodland and wetland.

Now with 10 years of data, the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) and Sussex Ornithological Society (SOS) on behalf of the SDFBI, have produced a report detailing results between 2014 and 2024, and is the first time it has been possible to track the trends of farmland birds within the SDNP.  Click the link below to read the report:
